My Teaching Practice…

I find teaching to be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience. I genuinely care about the students that I have taught and I find that the different personalities, interests and abilities amongst the students are what make the job so interesting on a daily basis. I have always been very passionate about everything to do with art and design and am a practicing textile designer outside of school. I will always remember the teachers who made a positive impact in my life, and I would like to be an equally influential educator in the lives of my students in the future. 

My strengths include: 

• I have a warm and calm personality and am encouraging towards all students. 

• I run my own textile design brand Tru Tru Stories, and I feel that my ongoing engagement in my own design practice helps to keep my creative energy flowing. 

• I feel very confident in a wide range of artistic skills required for the art classroom including drawing, painting, embroidery, model making, construction, and am also very confident using digital media software such as Photoshop, Illustrator and iMovie. 

• I have successfully developed a good rapport with the students that I have taught and have managed to strike the right balance between being a friendly yet firm teacher. 

• I have a lot of energy and always work extremely hard to provide interesting projects that are relevant to the students interests.
