NCAD Change Lab project 2020
As part of the Professional Master of Education course at NCAD 2020, 2nd year students worked in groups on the ‘Change Lab’ project, which is a research project that has a Development Education focus. The outcome for each group that participated in the Change Lab was an art installation at the NCAD gallery space that highlighted an issue such as social injustices or sustainability concerns.
The project also followed the framework of the Leaving Certificate Art Specifications: RESPOND, RESEARCH, CREATE. And for that reason, all of the findings and methodology that were derived from the project are suitable for adaptation to a secondary school setting.
Video Introduction
In this video, PME course leader Fiona King introduces the Change Lab project 2020.
My Project
The group that I was part of, focused our research on the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goal: Reduced Inequalities and more specifically on the topic of ‘Cancel Culture’.
My group project hi-lighted the negative impact that cancel culture has on society - such as the removal of open debate and the dismissal of different opinions.
